Denise Shields, a teacher at MMS, shared student PowerPoints created using a teacher lesson she designed at an Intel training workshop. Click on the pictures above to view the completed lessons.

Lesson:
Students selected a travel destination anywhere in the continental U.S. They had to reach their destination within 12 hours while driving the speed limit. They also had to use road atlases to calculate the distance. Students then chose a car and used internet resources to locate the car's mpg rating and the current daily average for gasoline. Students calculated the amount of gas and money it would take to reach their destination. Then, they took virtual trips to their destination of choice to research accommodations and attractions. Students had to create a table itemizing the monies spent on their trip. All of the information they collected was gathered into PowerPoint presentations where students had to exercise their creative talents by writing about their destination as if they had actually been there.
