Steve Massey's Students Stay In Touch
Using the Web

Here's what Mr. Massey has to say:
I started using blogger.com because it was easier for me to use than any other account. The best thing about it is it allows the students to communicate directly with me the night before a test or when a big assignment is due. Using the comment feature, the students can ask questions or post comments about the particulars of what we are doing. The templates are easily accessible and simple to post links on. Generally, the night before a test I will check the site every half hour to field questions, and doing so does not require a great deal of time. Blogger.com has an optional filter that protects student privacy, prevents spamming by companies and allows some editing. The site has helped me a great deal and provides a good connection with the kids. I am getting an average of 55 hits per day.

Christy Jamison's 2nd Grade
Fair Brochure

After our trip to the fair we brainstormed as a class and came up with ideas about the fair to put into a brochure. I set up the template using the projector on the ACTIVboard so the students could be involved in the design. They chose all the pictures for the brochure. Then each child typed his/her favorite sentence. This was nice to do as a group instead of having to pull them up individually to the computer.
