Macon County School System
Dan Brigman, Superintendent of Schools

Welcome to the Macon County School System! Each day in Macon County, we have the gift of traveling to work or play with the world’s most spectacular scenery surrounding each of us. The beauty of the landscape in this great area is only one reason to live and work in Macon County North Carolina. My family and I have strengthened our appreciation for the many blessings of calling Western North Carolina home once again.

Since our return to the area more than one year ago, I have taken the time to visit each classroom throughout the district and observe staff and administrators providing care for a diverse group of learners while attending to the state curriculum and other daily demands within each facility. The Macon County School System is very fortunate to have a high quality team of professionals in each school and department to serve our children and prepare students for the ever-changing world we live in.

Our school system consists of eleven outstanding schools, each with their unique characteristics and strengths that clearly reflect a commitment to education within each school community. Every day approximately 4,400 students enter our doors to better prepare themselves for college, work, military, or other post-high school endeavors. In cooperation with the school, home, and community, our students will continue to be successful learners and productive citizens. Please visit one of our schools today to see excellence in action. For more information regarding our school district and each school’s performance on federal and state accountability models, please visit www.ncpublicschools.org.
